The poster presentation highlighted findings from the first step of an environmental scan. The purpose of the e-scan was to get a better understanding of the Health and Wellness supports available to Newcomer in Alberta. The web search for organizations that supports newcomers and the services they provide were focus on three cities. Edmonton, Calgary and Brooks.
Over the past decade, Alberta’a Newcomer population has increased from 18% to 23% with newcomers primarily residing in larger metropolitan cities such as Calgary and Edmonton. Despite the the existence of health navigation and wellness supports, newcomers still experience barriers accessing healthcare. The objective of the poster was to outline the organizations and services available in Alberta to support newcomer health.
