Reflecting on Five Years of Collaboration, Community, and Impact

In June 2026, the Canadian Collaboration for Complex Care (C4) team came together to reflect on five years of collaboration, learning, and growth.

The gathering provided an opportunity to welcome new graduate students, celebrate recent milestones, strengthen relationships across the team, and spend time together in person. Through conversation and reflection, team members explored the values, partnerships, and shared commitment that continue to shape C4’s work.

The celebration highlighted a number of accomplishments from the past year, including the expansion of the Health Navigation for Newcomers seminar series through partnerships with the Centre for Newcomers, AIMGA, and GlobalDental; the launch of a Diabetes Mobile Clinic expansion supporting newcomer communities; important contributions to Black health research; the graduation of MD/MSc student Sharon Brudnyi; and the welcoming of the newest addition to the C4 family.

The day also provided space to look ahead. Team members shared ideas about how their collective knowledge, lived experience, expertise, and community partnerships can continue to advance health equity and improve care for people living with complex health and social needs.

As C4 enters its next chapter, the gathering served as a reminder that meaningful change is built through collaboration, trust, and a shared commitment to learning from and alongside the communities we serve.

Research is about more than projects and publications. Strong relationships, shared values, and opportunities for reflection help create the foundation for meaningful and sustainable impact.

This gathering reinforced C4’s commitment to connection, collaboration, community, and care. By bringing together researchers, staff, trainees, and community partners to celebrate accomplishments and look toward the future, the team strengthened the relationships that make complex-care research possible and continue to drive efforts toward greater health equity.
